This past fall I had the great honor of revisiting former wedding clients of mine at their home in Ipswich to photograph a morning with the newest member of their family. It’s truly awesome to get invited back into someone’s life like this. And also to get to hang out with adorable babies. Documented in Ipswich, Massachusetts by north shore family photographer, Siri Jones.

As a family photographer, I’v had so many lovely sessions over the last few months but I’ve been slow to share them. My work has taken me all around the Boston area – from Somerville to Cambridge and Jamaica Plain. And even out to beautiful World’s End in Hingham. (If you’ve never been to World’s End, I highly recommend a visit – it’s so lovely.) So, here is a lazy family photographer blog post: a selection of my favorites. I will find time for each of these sessions as a few of them are day-in-the-life stories that need to be told. And some more of them are just beautiful families that should be seen. For now though, a little compilation.

  • Sandrine Fauconnet - Great compilation! I love them all. You can really feel all the emotions in them. Beautiful work Siri. xxxReplyCancel

father and sonkids at homekids playingBack in March I spent the afternoon with the G’s at their home in Somerville. As a Boston family photographer, I most often photograph families with babies and toddlers – that’s the time of childhood we as parents think to capture (it’s still new to us!) and our lives aren’t so filled with homework, sports, activities, friends, etc – so it was nice to do something a little bit different. This family has a lot of fun together, playing board games and hockey in the street, cooking, and a lot of running around the house. But the sweetest part is that even though the kids are growing up, a bedtime routine of cuddling, reading and being silly is still a big part of their day.

  • Alice Roschelle Moskowitz - The photos are terrific and the concept of capturing a day in the life of this wonderful family (our kids and grandkids) is wonderful. Thank you.ReplyCancel

As a documentary family photographer, I recently spent a morning with the B’s at their home in Concord. It was just a regular Saturday morning for them – hanging out in the kitchen, making breakfast, reading, playing, napping, and lounging. What I love about this day in the life session is that I was able to capture some of the super funny things that a toddler does in his space – little Ben’s attachment to the gloves and football in particular kill me. Also, those sippy cup, trucks on the couch, cranky meal, getting down on the floor days are fleeting and I think it’s lovely to have a record of the small moments we may forget. I hope these are the things that they will look back on in the photos and laugh about. And finally, because this winter has kept most of us in Massachusetts housebound, the session captured a little slice of winter 2015 in the B’s new home. This is their morning-in-the-life story.
